I’m A Fan Friday: Invisible Childproofing With the Safety 1st Adhesive Magnetic Child Safety Lock System

Happy Friday friends!

Quick and sweet post again. Today’s post is on our childproofing situation. First-time parent struggles were real when I was trying to find childproof locks for our kitchen that didn’t look terrible, had good reviews but also weren’t super expensive.

I can’t remember who it was on Instagram that posted about their magnetic childproof locks but it came just at the right time for me! I did some Amazon browsing for magnetic options and settled on the Safety 1st Adhesive Magnetic Child Safety Lock System. My husband was really skeptical because they were kind of expensive for child locks ($40).

However, they were better than we ever expected!! The installation (according to my husband, I watched) was extremely simple and quick. I could have probably figured it out without him. The locking mechanism is completely adhesive so no need to whip out the drills and destroy your cabinets and drawers. We installed all 8 of the locks in about 20 minutes! One of the best parts is you don’t see them at all from the exterior.

The set comes with 2 “keys” that are the only way you can open the locks. You just put the “key” over the cabinet and the lock on the other side unlocks. You also have the option to push a peg on the lock which disables the locking mechanism, which comes in handy when you’re cooking, cleaning or putting away dishes and need to get in and out of cabinets easily. Beware, getting used to your cabinets being locked is pretty hilarious. My husband and I couldn’t stop laughing at how many times we went to go open a cabinet and it was locked. We keep the key on our dishwasher so it’s easily accessible.

Yes, these also work on drawers and pantry doors! See the video’s below for the product in action.

Notable mention: These (below) are some way cheaper cabinet locks for cabinets with handles, we have these in our living room on our built-in cabinets and since we don’t open those cabinets very often, they are all we need.
